1. Who we are

Van Niekerk Physio (“we”, “us”) is the responsible party for personal information we process, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What this website collects

Nothing. This site is a set of static pages. It has no contact form, no login, no newsletter signup and no analytics or advertising cookies. We do not receive your name, contact details or any other personal information as a result of you browsing it.

Our web host records standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and operational purposes, as any web server does. We do not use these to identify individual visitors.

3. Booking and patient information

When you book an appointment, you leave this website and are taken to our client portal, operated by Zanda Health. Any information you provide there — including clinical and health information — is collected and stored by that platform, not by this website.

Health information is special personal information under POPIA and is subject to stricter conditions. It is handled under our practice's patient records policy and the professional confidentiality obligations that apply to registered physiotherapists.

Zanda Health acts as an operator in respect of that information and processes it on our instruction.

4. Contacting us directly

If you contact us by WhatsApp, email or phone, we receive whatever you choose to send us. We use it only to respond to you and, where relevant, to arrange an appointment. Please don't send detailed medical information over these channels — we'll take your history properly at your consultation.

5. Embedded maps and videos

Two kinds of third-party content appear on this site, and nothing else:

• Google Maps on the locations and contact pages, so you can find us.
• YouTube videos on the contact page showing how to reach each practice from the gym entrance. These are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, which defers YouTube's tracking cookies until you actually play a video.

When either loads, your browser contacts Google directly and Google may record your IP address or set cookies undertheir own privacy policy. If you'd rather avoid this, the written addresses and directions links work without loading either.

6. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive or out of date;
• object to our processing of your personal information;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

7. Security

We take appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, damage and unauthorised access. This website is served over HTTPS.

8. Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision. If we ever add a form, analytics or any other means of collecting information, this notice will be updated before that goes live.
